Here's a nice note we received from a previous employee of Chef Marc Yanni's.
What a pleasure to receive such a nice message, enjoy.
Hello,
My name is Chris and I was a cook for Chef Yanni back in the 1990's. I am so happy that he has his own restaurant and is doing well. He is still one of the greatest chefs I have ever worked for and he was always willing to share his knowledge.
I still consider Chef Yanni one of my greatest mentors and inspirations as far as how to treat staff and run a professional kitchen. I currently work as Executive chef of a private club in Charleston, South Carolina. I would like to ask that maybe you could pass along my phone number to Chef Yanni because I would love to say hello if he remembers me. I am from the OTB Teletheater days.
Thank you all and I can't wait to dine at your place when I make it home this summer to visit my mother.
Chris

Marc's dream of operating his own restaurant started when he was just thirteen and washing dishes at Charley Weaver's in Menands. While he was a junior and senior in high school, he worked at Schuyler Meadows Country Club and advanced to the sous chef's position. From there Marc attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and interned with french Chef Philipa Patrola in Baton Rouge, La. His passion for regional cuisine brought him to chef positions in Raleigh, Galveston, San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento. In Sacramento he was named Executive Chef of the Clarion Hotel. In 1987 Marc returned home and worked as Executive Chef of the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia, NY for two years. Soon he was recruited to the 1100 seat Teletheater Complex also as Executive Chef. During that time Marc hosted the cable television show "Cooking in the 90's". After winning numerous awards and medals, Marc opened Yanni's Restaurant on Main Street in Ravena, NY in 1999. In need of a larger restaurant, he closed that location and opened his second restaurant, Yanni's Too, at the Coeymans Landing Marina in Coeymans, NY and made it the hot spot it is today. Marc also offers on and off premise catering and considers no function too large or too small. Marc is an active participant in fund raising for the Ravena Coeymans Selkirk School District and sponsors teams for many local athletic organizations. He is currently laying the ground work for a scholarship program for local students. Marc is committed to offering the most he can to the community.
Not only will you find Marc hard at work, his wife Laurie and daughters Shelby and Sarah are also active employees and loved family members. It is this kind of attitude that really makes Yanni's a special place. He's "The King."
